The Elvetham
Fleet Road, Hartley Wintney, Hook RG27 8AS, Hampshire, United Kingdom
The Elvetham is a country home near where Carrie grew up, lived, and worked in the south of England. While the UK is a long trip for many, it is a special place for friends and family to finally meet and celebrate with the couple - especially after the long lockdown. The Elvetham’s thirty-five acre estate has a storied history dating back to the ninth century and is worth the trip. It has been a rest-stop for royalty, a safe-haven for rebels, and a cradle for new love. Learn more about The Elvetham’s eventful past.
Accommodation is onsite. The Elvetham is a 30 minute taxi southwest from London Heathrow. The couple will be lodging Friday through Sunday and invite you to do so as well.

Things to do….
Carrie & Ben will be in the UK the weeks surrounding the ceremony visiting with friends and family. Here are just a few suggestions, based on their travels, if you’re thinking of planning your own extended trip…
The South of England
Carrie grew up near Winchester, home of Winchester Cathedral, King Arthur’s Roundtable, and rumor has it, the oldest pub in the UK. Carrie and Ben’s first “not a date” was here and ended up at Chococo, a chocolate and coffee shop.
For a West Country adventure, you can visit Stonehenge, on your way down to Devon where the wild ponies of Dartmoor await. This dramatic, moody national park is the backdrop for Conan Doyle’s most famous Sherlock crime story: The Hound of The Baskervilles (less spooky - Carrie and Ben visited here just before Carrie moved to the US)
London
So much to see and do, from the British Museum, to the Tower of London, to views from the Shard.
Carrie and Ben’s first “this is definitely a date” and subsequent visits included traversing the South Bank, stopping off at the Elizabeth Hall Roof Garden & Cafe for a Pimm’s, followed by a trip down the rabbit hole with Alice’s Adventures Underground
UK
A simple four hour train ride from London takes you to Edinburgh, capital of Scotland. Carrie and Ben visited in summer 2019 and loved exploring the City, Castle, and taking in the views from Arthur’s Seat (as well as staying with friends). In August the city comes alive for the Festival and Fringe, when you can catch hundreds of live shows and the spectacle of the Tattoo.
Europe
It’s a big continent and if you flew all the way from the USA, you might as well jump over the channel. Planes and trains are cheaper in Europe than the US.
